Cancilla Vineyard

Cancilla Vineyard is our estate vineyard and our home. Tucked amidst a sea of fir trees and white oaks in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range, our estate vineyard has a unique microclimate for growing cool-climate grape varieties. Rising to over 600 feet in the shadows of Mount Richmond, the Vineyard sits within a small well-protected valley, perpendicular to the larger Patton Valley to the southeast. The varied contours of the site provide a range of primarily southerly and easterly facing aspects. These natural dynamics help to create a uniquely cool site, benefitting from high diurnal shifts and cooling coastal winds.

The Vineyard was planted in 1999 and 2003, with 19 acres of pinot noir and 1 acre of chardonnay. While the Vineyard is certified organic, we view organic farming as simply a baseline, with a goal of exploring concepts from regenerative farming, permaculture, and biodynamics as we grow with this site and become attuned to its specific needs. As temporary stewards of this land, we want to create a place that is not only capable of producing beautiful, thought-provoking fruit, but one that is beneficial to the environment and community within which it resides, for generations to come.

Something magical occurs when you’re standing on the crest of the Vineyard, staring down the valley at Mount Richmond, with the coastal winds providing relief from the heat of the Oregon summer. The land grabs a hold of you, making you feel small and yet as if anything is possible. We invite you to experience this connection for yourself – whether allowing a bottle to temporarily transport you to this place or by visiting us in person, where you will always be greeted with a seat at the table and a full glass.
